Academic/Career Accomplishments

  Greg is proud to have been born and educated in Ravenna, and he is thankful for his wonderful family and the many great people at "home" who he still calls friends today. Graduating from RHS in 1970, he attended and graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University (1974, Phi Beta Kappa), and studied at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (1975-76). Greg started his public service in 1977 and worked for Congressman Bill Stanton (R-OH), serving on the House Banking Committee, later becoming Republican Staff Director. From 1983 to 1986 Greg served the Honorable Chalmers P. Wylie as a Republican Staff Director for the Committee on Banking, Finance and Urban Affairs of the U.S. House of Representative, where he advised members of Congress on legislative, regulatory and political issues affecting the financial services industry. From 1986 to 1989, he was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions (U.S. Treasury), where he worked on the savings and loan crisis and received the Secretary's Distinguished Service Award. In 1989, he joined the management consulting firm, McKinsey & Company in Washington, D.C., became a partner in 1994, and currently serves as Senior Advisor. He has worked in more than 25 countries, and co-authored a book: Dangerous Markets: Managing in Financial Crises. In 2005, Greg served former Presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton as the lead consultant for the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund for hurricane relief. In 2006, he founded his own consulting firm specializing in financial services policy and regulation. He also lectures at the Industrial College of the Armed Services. Greg has two amazing children, Sarah (actress) and Chris (college student). Today, he lives in Great Falls, Virginia, and is married to Barbara "Beejay" Brode, another RHS graduate in 2002. In 2001, he co-founded the band F.O.G. with former RHS classmates and produced its first CD (Reunion).
