Athletic Accomplishments

Amy Stefansic, a 1998 graduate of Ravenna High School, participated in many sports as a high school athlete. With volleyball, basketball and track on her resume, she eventually earned a scholarship to play college basketball at Malone University in Canton, Ohio. Her high school athletic accomplishments include Most Valuable Player and Western Reserve First Team All-Conference accolades during her junior and senior years. Stefansic also received honors such as
Touchdown Club and Plain Dealer All-Star, All Northeast Ohio First Team, Honorable Mention and Third Team Northeast Inland All-District team her junior and senior years respectively, First Team All-Portage County, and Western Reserve Conference All-Academic Team.  Stefansic also was nominated as the Most Valuable Athlete and played in the Tri-County All-Star game her senior year.

Stefansic, a 2002 Malone graduate (Physical Education), was a four year letter winner on the Pioneer women’s basketball team. Stefansic, who played at the small forward spot, became the first NAIA All-American in the program’s history when she earned the honor as a senior and she is only one of two women’s basketball players to earn the NAIA All-American accolade to date. Stefansic is still currently ninth on Malone’s all-time scoring list and fourth on the all-time rebounding list. She was voted to the First Team All AMC as both a junior and senior and earned the NCCAA First Team All-American honor for those two seasons as well. The team’s most valuable player as a senior, Stefansic was a two-time NCCAA Scholar Athlete and a one-time NAIA Scholar Athlete winner. As a junior, she helped lead Malone to a sixth place finish at the NCCAA National Tournament and, as a senior, paced the Pioneers to their only NAIA National Tournament appearance to date.

She was inducted into the Malone Hall of Fame in 2014.

Stefansic, who earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration/Sport Management, is currently a Physical Education teacher and coach in Cincinnati, Ohio.
